“The MetaFiqh Tenets (Mqaasid) in the Islamic Sharia: Theory and Practice”

University of Ez-Zitouna Tunisia in collaboration with European Centre for Research and Consultancy (ECRC) organize the 9th international scientific conference on “The MetaFiqh Tenets in the Islamic Sharia: Theory and Practice.” It goes without saying that the metaFiqh tenets in Islamic Sharia are a comprehensive area of research in the Islamic civilization since they represents an optimum of studying Fiqh and Fundamentals of Fiqh. Studies on metaFiqh in Sharia have contributed to transferring passively-receptive mindset into problem-solving mental models. It is an extraordinary paradigm shift in Fiqh and Fundamentals of Fiqh. The current joint conference is a response for calls from all scholars to elaborate the scopes of the ‘The Islamic Sharia MetaFiqh’ to explore other disciplines and circumstances.    

Conference Languages

In order to enable as many researchers as possible to meet, communicate and exchange experience, Arabic and English are going to be the working languages of the conference.

Conference Themes:

Theme One: History of MetaFiqh Studies in Islamic Sharia

1. Roots of MetaFiqh in Islam Sharia;

2. Islamic MetaFiqh in the Prophet’s era;

3. Islamic MetaFiqh in Sahaba’s era;

4. Islamic MetaFiqh in the era of Tabi’een and The Fiqh Imams;

5. Islamic MetaFiqh by scholars of Fiqh and Fundamentals of Fiqh.

Theme Two: MetaFiqh Tenets in Islam: Arguments and Proofs

1. Arguments for MetaFiqh in Islamic Sharia;

2. The difference between MetaFiqh tenets and existing legal resources in Islamic Sharia.

Theme Three: MetaFiqh in the Islamic Sharia Revisited

 1. The need for revisiting the MetaFiqh in the Islamic Sharia;

2. Areas of MetaFiqh in the Islamic Sharia that need revisiting;

3. Resources for revisiting MetaFiqh in the Islamic Sharia: The Quran, The Sunnah, Sirah (biography) of the Prophet, and Sirah of the four Caliphates.

Theme Four: Pioneers of MetaFiqh Scholars in Islam

1. Al-Ez Ben Abdulsalam (in his book ‘Qwa’ed Alahkam fi Masaleh Alanam’);

2. Abu Ishaq Ashatibi (in his book ‘Almuwafiqat fi Usool Ashari’a’);

3. Attaher Ben Ashour (in his book ‘Mqaasid Ashari’a); and

4. Waliyou Allah Ben Abdulraheem Addahlawi (in his book ‘Hujjat Allah Elbaligha’).

Theme Five: Areas of Contemporary Applications of MetaFiqh Tenets

7. Humanities and Social Sciences

8. Medicine and Basic Science

 

All submissions should report original, previously unpublished research results, experimental or theoretical. The maximum paper length, excluding references and appendixes, is as follows:

(a) Arabic paper is 10 pages (2.5″ margins on all sides, 14 Traditional Arabic, spaced 1.5 lines each, and an abstract not exceeding 100 words)

(b) English paper is five pages (2.5″ margins on all sides, 14 Times New Roman, double spaced, and an abstract not exceeding 100 words).

All submissions will be peer reviewed and evaluated by a panel of experts based on originality, depth, and relevance to the conference, contributions and readability. Moreover, every paper should be focused and concise (unnecessary elaborations are not encouraged). Articles submitted to the conference should meet these criteria and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Any submission should include an abstract, not exceeding 100 words. Manuscripts should follow any accepted scientific publication style in the preparing the manuscript (e.g., APA style 6thed.).  Any paper that does not follow these guidelines will not be accepted for review.

  1. Certificate + Invoice + Badge
  2. Conference proceedings (with ISBN for copyright and academic promotion purposes) will publish on ECRC website after the conference date
  3. Bouffe snacks

Important Dates

Paper submission deadline: 1/10/2019

Notification of acceptance:

Within two weeks upon receipt, a notification of acceptance is issued and e-mailed to the corresponding author should the paper is accepted for the conference.
